There's a new whitening product in the market. Asian Secrets Lulur Whitening Body Scrub is a beauty treatment inspired by a most luxurious Javanese ritual called lulur.
Lulur is said to be a ritual of brides-to-be to beautify, smoothen and whiten her skin before the big day. Lulur originated from the royal places of Java, Indonesia and products inspired by this traditional treatment are still being used by Indonesian women today.
I wanted to try Asian Secrets so I headed to Watsons and bought it for P130 (250-gram tub). The 135-gram tube is just P80. Reading the product label, it states that Asian Secrets gently exfoliates the skin and removes dead skin cells to soften the skin and give it a radiant glow. Frequent use reduces skin pigmentation and evens out skin tone by getting rid of dark patches, especially in areas prone to darkening like elbows, knees, armpits and the area between the thighs (in short, singit).
It contains vitamin E and green tea extract, which are powerful anti-oxidants that protect your skin from free radicals. It also contains squalene and olive oil that help maintain moisture in your skin.
I'm naturally fair so I really don't need any whitening agent. But I have always been concerned of certain dark spots in my body. You know, places where the sun doesn't shine. LOL! I've tried whitening deodorants but it has no effect. I don't want to undergo skin peeling or laser treatment because of the cost. So at a very reasonable price of P130, I'm willing to give Asian Secrets a try.
When you open Asian Secrets, you'll see this icing-like substance. It smells great. You don't see the scrubs when you open the product but once you apply it to your skin, you'll feel how much scrubs Asian Secrets contain. Quite frankly, there's so much scrub beads that you can easily feel that this could actually work. Mukhang hindi tinipid sa dami ng scrubs. The cream is also quite thick that it's really like getting your money's worth.
Daily use is recommended to maximize the effects. I've been using it for a couple of days only but I'm quite happy with the product. At the very least, I feel cleaner because of the scrubs.
Asian Secrets is easy to use. Just scrub your skin, especially the dark areas. Make sure your skin is dry before you use it. Then, rinse with water and pat dry.
