This policy is valid from 25 July 2011.
This blog is a collaborative blog written by a group of individuals. For questions about this blog, please contact womenscentral@gmail.com.
Do you accept advertising or sponsorship?
Yes. We accept ad placements in our site. Ads we accept are leaderboards, boxed ads, and footers.
Do you accept paid insertions or paid posts?
Paid links, yes. Paid posts, no. We do put a limit to the number of paid links we use in our blog, though. [Updated Aug. 30, 2011]
How much do you receive for these paid links?
There are three things that shouldn’t be discussed among friends and strangers—money, politics and religion. But to give you an idea, it’s the prize of a family pan pizza.
Are you planning to accept more paid post or insertions in the future?
It’s not our priority because we already have a lot on our plate. We have also declined several offers for paid posts/insertions because they do not fit the blog.
One of your writers works in a pharmaceutical company. Does that affect the kind of posts you publish?
Yes, Rochelle works in Unilab as a digital marketing specialist. She often writes about new products from Unilab because she believes in them. She is not paid nor required to write about Unilab products in Women’s Central. Rochelle maintains editorial independence in her posts. Proof? She has written about competing products here in Women’s Central.
Just like other bloggers, she receives samples and gift packs from the brand managers of Unilab. She tries the products and writes about them.
Do you accept gifts, freebies, and what-nots from PR/digital agencies?
Sometimes, yes and no. It’s common practice for agencies to give gifts/freebies/loot bags during events and we do receive them when we attend. No, agencies do not require us to write about the products or events. We write about them because we want to chronicle what happened and to share our readers that there are new products out in the market that they may want to try.
PR/digital agencies also regularly email us press releases. If the article is interesting and fits the theme of our blog, we write about it even if they don’t give us anything. If the article doesn’t fit our blog, we don’t publish it. If we’re invited to an event that doesn’t fit our blog, we also do not attend.
Where do you get the prizes for your giveaways/contests?
Most of them come from loot bags that we get from events, PR/digital agencies and brand managers. Sometimes, PR/digital agencies and brand managers give us the items for contest giveaways.
